When not out exploring her favorite photographic haunts, New York born Carol Schiraldi currently lives outside of Austin, Texas. Her passion for experimentation has given her work a dramatic signature style. Since her first show at Austin’s own Amy’s Ice Cream in 1992, her work has gone on to be exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, as well as included in publications and many sites on the web. Carol is an active contributor to the vibrant Austin-area art scene.

Inspiration
I'm inspired by nature, jazz and blues music, great painters, and anybody who can tie a knot in a cherry stem while it's in their mouth. Oh, and dogs, I love dogs, but you probably could have guessed that.

I have photographed Eric Clapton and BB King in London, Geishas in Kyoto, the rooftops of
Santorini, the volcanoes of Hawaii, the streets of Las Vegas, the canals
of Venice, and the glaciers in Iceland just to name a few of my
favorite things.
career highlights
Once, I stuck my camera inside a tilt-a-whirl. I have been chased by an angry goose, survived customs agents, held on for dear life on some crazy cab rides, and there was that lady on flight 93 coming back from Houston who almost killed our flight attendant. All of that and I've done a couple of exhibitions too, but those are easy in comparison.
